Your first liquidity position

From picking a pool to seeing the position in Portfolio.

Before you start

  • A wallet connected on Robinhood Chain, with ETH for gas.
  • The tokens you intend to deposit.
  • An understanding that this can lose money. Risks of liquidity provision

The walkthrough

  1. 1

    Pick a pool

From Discover, or straight from a pool page. Look at the opportunity score and the risk grade together, not one of them.

  2. 2

    Choose a price range

Uniswap v3 liquidity only earns while the price is inside your range. Narrower earns more per dollar while in range and stops earning sooner. Choosing a price range

  3. 3

    Enter amounts

A two-token deposit needs both sides in the ratio the range implies. The preview shows how much of each token will actually be used, and what will be left over.

  4. 4

    Approve the tokens

One approval per token that needs one. An approval is permission to spend, not a deposit, and it is a separate transaction from the mint.

  5. 5

    Review the preview

Spender, amounts, minimum amounts, deadline, recipient and gas estimate. If the quote goes stale or the block moves past the deadline, the plan is rebuilt rather than signed.

  6. 6

    Sign the mint

Uniswap’s position manager mints the position NFT to your address. SquirtFi only treats it as confirmed when the receipt contains both the mint transfer and the matching liquidity event.

  7. 7

    Find it in Portfolio

The position appears once the indexer has passed the block your transaction landed in. Until then Portfolio says it is catching up rather than showing you a wrong number.

Manual LP or Zap

Manual two-token LP

You supply both tokens yourself. No swap happens, so there is no swap fee and no price impact on entry. You need to hold both sides.

Protected Zap

You supply one token. Part of it is swapped for the other side inside the same transaction, then both are deposited. Convenient, but the entry swap has a fee and a price impact.

Neither is strictly better. Zap costs you the entry swap; manual costs you the effort and the requirement to already hold both tokens. Protected Zap
