Risks of liquidity provision

The ways a liquidity position loses money. Read this one properly.

The short version

Divergence loss

The dominant risk. A pool continuously sells you out of the token that is rising and into the one that is falling. If the two tokens diverge in price, the position ends up worth less than holding both would have been. Concentrated ranges amplify this, because the same move is absorbed by a smaller band. Fees are not profit

Range risk

A position outside its range earns nothing and holds a single token. It can sit there indefinitely. Narrowing a range to increase fee density increases the chance of this, and every re-entry costs gas.

Token volatility

You keep full exposure to both tokens. A pool paying well in fees while one of its tokens falls sharply is still a loss. Fee income does not offset a large price move; it is usually an order of magnitude smaller.

Exit and liquidity risk

Removing liquidity gives you the two tokens, not dollars. Converting them back is a swap, and in a thin pool that swap moves the price against you. This is why TVL under $25,000 floors the risk grade at D: the exit is part of the risk, not an afterthought.

Gas

Approvals, mints, adjustments, collections and exits all cost ETH. On a small position the round trip can exceed the fees earned. Gas is a certain cost against an uncertain return.

Smart contract risk

Your funds sit in Uniswap protocol contracts on Robinhood Chain. A bug or exploit in those contracts, or in the chain itself, can cause loss. SquirtFi calls canonical deployments and verifies their bytecode, which establishes that the code is what it claims to be. It does not establish that the code is safe.

Oracle and data risk

Valuations depend on price feeds and on an indexer. A stale or wrong feed produces a wrong figure. SquirtFi’s response is to refuse rather than to estimate, but a refusal still means you are making a decision without a number. PnL limitations and refusal states

Execution risk

Between building a transaction and mining it, the price moves. Minimum-amount bounds and deadlines mean a bad execution reverts rather than completing, but a revert still costs gas, and a transaction can sit pending for a long time. Approvals and transaction safety

Tokenized equity risk

Some tokens on this chain track equities. They introduce risks a normal crypto pair does not have.

  • Market-hour mismatch. The token trades on-chain around the clock. Its underlying market does not. There is a real window every weekend and every night outside the overnight session where the token can trade while its price feed is not being updated.
  • Gaps. When the underlying market reopens, the price can jump. A concentrated position can be pushed out of range across that gap without ever having a chance to react.
  • Corporate actions. Splits, dividends and similar events change what a token represents. SquirtFi applies corporate-action multipliers to the price, not to your balance.
  • Token-specific restrictions. Issuer terms, transfer restrictions or redemption rules may apply and are set by the token issuer, not by SquirtFi.
